Don't just take our word for it! Here is a selection of comments we've had about Newton Barns and the surrounding area.

We've just had a lovely week at High Tide. This is a great family cottage, the location is perfect, part of a small well-built quiet and very private complex, sympathetically styled to fit in with the surrounding countryside - a fantastic location from which to discover the joys of Northumberland.

The cottage itself is extremely well-equipped, nicely furnished, feels like being in your own home, transported into the countryside. There are three double bedrooms, each with ensuite. Nice and warm (bearing in mind that we went in October), with underfloor heating, plenty of plugs for appliances and chargers. Nice comfortable lounge and dining area, modern kitchen and other usual facilities, to include a pleasant front patio/garden area, and a separate private green space allocated to the cottage for the kids to play and run around.

Ourselves and our children and grandchildren had a ball, plenty to do and see in the area. Newton-by-the-Sea Beach is only a 5 minutes drive away. We all enjoyed going down to the beach at dawn, and watching the sunrise, with the kids then playing in the sand-dunes and on the beach. Later in the day there is the lovely pub and restaurant – The Ship Inn, adjacent to the beach, as well as the Joiners Arms, nearby. Both serve excellent beers and food. Further afield, our family greatly enjoyed visiting Alnwick Castle (Harry Potter was filmed there) - staff and others dress in the period, very much Harry Potter themed, but with other interests too. Also Alnwick Gardens (great play areas, and themed complex for the kids). Also there are Seahouses, Bamburgh Castle, Beamish - a little further afield, and many other fantastic places to see. We will visit again. We strongly recommend it.

Sea Breeze is a very special cottage. It has all the facilities and comforts you would hope for, and in addition, it has a delightful garden and views across fields to the sea. Wild-life clearly abounds in the surrounding area. The cottage is in easy reach of wonderful dog friendly beaches, any number of castles and wonderful gardens. If you are looking for a holiday cottage with a great garden for the children, and a safe place to play, and if you want a great base for exploring the wonderful Northumbrian coast, then Sea Breeze is the place for you.

Just had a lovely week here. The house had everything we needed and the garden and views are amazing. Ideal for a group with a 3 year old, 1½ year old and 2 dogs! The location is fantastic and so near to beaches for playing and dog walks. Shops, pubs and cafés nearby. This area is beautiful and we haven't even seen half of it! We hope to return and explore more.

We had a fabulous week at Sea Breeze – sunshine and temperatures in the 20's all week certainly helped! A great location for touring the stunning coastline and inland days out. A most beautiful county! The cottage had everything we needed for a stress-free week with the dogs in a peaceful location. We will be back.

Great base for exploring and walking. Visited Cragside, Alnwick, Seahouses, Bamburgh, Warkworth and many other places. Walked on lots of beaches with two wee dogs. Very comfortable house and the dogs loved the garden. Recommended; Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel for evening meal and Eleonor's Byre – a must for coffee & cakes

What a great week we've had here! We have loved exploring the Northumberland Coast and Countryside. Top highlights have been the trip to the Farne Islands, broomstick flying lessons at Alnwick Castle, Cragside and the views of Dunstanburgh in all its many moods. It's been lovely to return to such a warm and comfortable cottage every evening.

Lovely location clean and comfortable accommodation and dog friendly with enclosed garden with lovely views towards the sea.

Lovely bright, airy house with a beautiful garden. Spacious and comfortable. Local pub in High Newton very good and The Ship Inn at Lower Newton also very good.

"Beautiful cottage, immaculately clean & tidy. Very comfortable bed and lovely & warm. Photos online do not do it justice"

Fantastic accommodation – relaxed a treat! Great beaches & excellent food at The Ship Inn at Low Newton. Wonderful break and definitely coming again!!"

A spacious and warm cottage, views from the lounge are lovely. It is private and quiet. A generally well equipped cottage with lovely extras i.e. books and games.

Excellent location for exploring the Northumberland coastline and inland. Great cottage extremely peaceful and secure for our two springer spaniels who absolutely loved it!

High Tide is spacious and clean, perfect for six between three bright bedrooms. Good dining and sitting space, with a small enclosed area outside and great to find such a nice house that will take a dog. A moment's walk from the door takes to you to open fields and a view of the sea. Recommended!

A real hidden gem. Large open plan, modern property in lovely rural setting. We didn't need to travel more than ten miles away from the property to keep us fully entertained all week. Can't wait to go back.
